If you’ve ever seen a pretty glass bottle filled with fragrance oil and a handful of sticks poking out the top and wondered how it works, you’re not alone. These are called reed diffusers, and they’re technically a type of aroma diffuser.
Reed diffusers use natural rattan reeds, which are made up of tiny hollow tubes. If you look at the end of a reed stick, it’s like seeing dozens of miniature straws. Fragrance oil travels up those straws and evaporates into the air from the top, offering simple, continuous scenting without sprays, flames, or fuss.
They’re great for bedrooms, entryways, desks, or any space where you want low-effort, high-impact scenting.
Reed diffusers are incredibly easy to use because they don’t require any buttons, electricity, or maintenance. Some arrive pre-filled with fragrance oil made from organic essential oils. Others include a separate fragrance oil container so you can fill the bottle yourself.
Once your fragrance oil is in the bottle:
-
Insert the reed sticks and give them a minute to start absorbing the oil.
-
Flip the reeds every 1 to 3 days to keep the scent flowing and prevent clogging inside the reeds.
How long the fragrance lasts depends on where you place it. A reed diffuser tucked into a quiet corner, like a guest bathroom, might last for six months or more. But in a breezy spot like a kitchen or near an A/C vent, the oil may be used up in just 3 to 4 weeks.
At Aroma Retail, all your favorite luxury fragrances are available as reed diffusers, and you can even create your own trio of signature scents with our Mix & Match Set.
