Christmas Aroma - There is an abundance of delightful scents around the holidays, and each seems to elicit fun memories and happy feelings. This year, we are not having my parents come for Christmas, so I’ll be surprising them with a care box. In it, I’ll be including a little bit of Happy Holidays Fragrance, so they can smell those spicy warm notes of cinnamon and clove and feel as though they have been transported back to our house as they’re making cookies and opening presents. This is absolutely my favorite time of year, and many smells bring the best sort of memories to mind. These are some of the scents that inspire me.
Candy Cane Christmas Fragrance
First is Candy Cane Christmas aroma, a sweet, minty holiday fragrance that smells like the decadent joy of eating a candy cane.
But for me, it’s not just eating the candy that I enjoy every year, but making little reindeer out of them. Years ago, my daughters started doing this for their teachers and friends by twisting brown pipe cleaners into antlers at the top of the cheerful white-and-red striped canes and gluing on pom-pom noses and googly eyes. It’s a tradition that still continues today. So, for me, those peppermint notes of Candy Cane Christmas smell like creative fun and little girl giggles and never fails to bring a smile to my face.
Winter Woods Fragrance
Then, of course, there is the tree to decorate. Winter Woods brings the crisp, refreshing scent of pine and fresh snow, like so many years of decorating with a real tree. It reminds me of going to a tree lot on a chilly afternoon, where the air is filled with the fresh smell of pine and picking the perfect tree. Then, bringing it home and watching with excitement as the net is cut and the branches splay out in their full glory.
After bringing the loveliness of it to life with a few strings of lights, there’s nothing like playing holiday music as you unbox all the ornaments from years past. One of the things I enjoy most is seeing how excited my daughters get when they recognize an ornament that holds a fond memory for them and how eager they are to share the story, even though it’s likely one we hear every year.
Now, as many others have, we have switched to a fake tree. The lure of instant lights, a base that needs no adjusting and no water bowl to keep pets out of, is just too irresistible. The wonderful thing about Winter Woods Fragrance is that it brings back that crisp pine scent to our house and makes it feel like we have a real tree again. Just one that is way easier and doesn’t require constant vacuuming.
To me, Winter Woods Fragrance smells like a bundle of amazing family memories from the past that roll into the present, time and time again, every year. And like having a real Christmas tree without all the mess.
Happy Holidays Fragrance
Then there is the Happy Holidays Fragrance. This is my particular go-to scent overall for the holidays. The underlying aroma of gingerbread from the cinnamon and clove recalls those fun, silly baking sessions with my family as we make several types of cookies. The gentle notes of pine give our Christmas tree even more magic. This fragrance is the perfect accompaniment for wrapping presents, baking cookies, having holiday parties (bonus: all those great compliments you’ll receive on how good your house smells) and then, of course, the anticipation of Christmas morning. Once I breathe in the familiar scents of spice, pine and citrus, I know it’s officially Christmas, and my family does too.
Happy Holidays Fragrance smells like time-honored traditions and the excitement of seeing how happy those you love are with the gifts you’ve carefully selected for them. It’s mulled wine and spiced cookies and an overall sense of warmth when the outside is chilly.
To me, it’s the epitome of the holidays.
Regardless of what Christmas aroma you choose* for the holiday season, I hope it is as happy and filled with many joyful memories. Happy Holidays!
