Scent Machine Care Guide
This guide outlines recommended maintenance and best practices for travel units, Smart 101 machines, and professional scent diffusers. Following these instructions helps extend machine life, prevent leaks, and maintain consistent fragrance diffusion.
Travel Units
Cleaning Between Scents
-
Run a small amount of rubbing alcohol through the machine between fragrance changes to clear residue and prevent scent mixing.
Filling the Amber Bottle
-
Do not fill the amber bottle past the neck. Overfilling can cause leaking, gurgling, and inconsistent diffusion.
Diffusion Head Replacement
-
Replace the diffusion head periodically. Contact the care team to request replacement parts when needed.
Power and Charging
-
Always use the USB-C cable that came with the unit.
-
Avoid plugging the device into high-voltage power sources, as this can damage the motherboard.
-
If the unit is not charging properly, flip the USB-C connector and allow the device to charge overnight.
Smart 101 Unit
Blue Canister Replacement
-
Replace the blue canister every 6 to 12 months for optimal diffusion performance.
-
Canisters are available for purchase on the website or by email request.
Canister Orientation
-
The blue canister only inserts one way. Forcing it incorrectly can cause it to become stuck.
-
Use the front sticker on the machine as an alignment guide.
Green O-Rings
-
Keep the green O-rings lightly lubricated at all times.
-
Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly if they appear dry.
-
If O-rings become brittle or break, replace them immediately to prevent leaks. Request replacements by email if necessary.
Recommended Usage
-
For balanced oil consumption, operate the machine up to 8 hours per day, 7 days a week, at approximately 20% intensity. This setting typically allows one bottle of oil to last about one month.
Filling the Blue Canister
-
Fill the canister only halfway or leave some air space to maintain proper pressure.
-
Filling to the top may cause gurgling or leaking.
Alcohol Cleaning
-
Perform regular alcohol cleaning runs, especially when switching between strong fragrances.
Professional Unit
Amber Bottle Tightening
-
Do not overtighten the amber bottle when screwing it into the assembly head. Excessive force can cause severe leaking and may cause the bottle to become stuck.
-
Overtightening can also damage the O-rings inside the assembly, which will then require replacement.
Nozzle Selection
-
Use the correct nozzle for your setup:
-
Interlocking nozzle: Attach to the 4-foot tube when connecting to HVAC.
-
Freestanding nozzle: Use when the unit is not connected to HVAC.
-
-
Using the wrong nozzle can result in leaking and improper diffusion.
Diffusion Head Keys
-
Store diffusion head keys in a secure location.
-
Replacement keys are available upon request and can be shipped with orders.
Draw Tube and Filter
-
The draw tube can be replaced if necessary.
-
Do not remove the small filter at the end of the tube; it prevents debris from entering the system.
Leak Prevention
-
Most leaks originate from the diffusion head.
-
Routine inspection, proper tightening, and early attention to minor leaks can prevent significant damage and cleanup.
