Class is in session! We were asked by Cornerstone Christian Academy’s 6th grade class to come learn the science behind fragrances. During the visit, the students engaged in a tour, scent workshop, and discovered how scents are made before they get to The Smelly Bar. Don’t worry, our bar isn’t your typical dive bar, but an exciting experience to sample all our pet-safe products!
On the tour, students experienced what it is like to work at Aroma Retail and the fragrance industry from every perspective. They went to each department: Marketing, Care, and Operations, to get a feel for what happens daily.
In Operations students learn how we pack and prepare an order from start to finish in the Shipping area. They also were able to create their own Room Spray in the Production area, where they picked a scent they liked and mixed it with its non-toxic base. Assembly & fabrication were on display as they passed the Machines area.
Next, they visited the Marketing Department. When in the podcast room, students saw what life is like behind the scenes of our content and took photos sitting in the Director's Chair (don't tell Mike). The children also played air hockey and got to feel the joy of being part of a team that values fun as much as work.
While in Care (this is our superb sustomer service department), students learned about the chemistry behind fragrances, like how molecules can combine to one another to produce a different scent. They also went through a true Smelly Bar experience, where one of our Aromaristas guides them through a fragrance journey based on what notes they like and don't like. They also took our Fragrance Test in case they didn't exactly know where to start.
It was a pleasure to have the kids meet our mascot as they were leaving! It was an absolute blast of a scenting journey and we're happy Cornerstone Christian Academy accompanied us in our first ever Field Trip For Science!
If you are a parent, teacher, or student who wants to learn how their school can schedule a visit, e-mail us at Care@AromaRetail.com. This was quite the learning experience for us but more importantly the students. We are excited to do more tours in the future and want to expand our outreach to the community.
