Mirage
The Mirage is a 3,044 room Polynesian-themed casino resort located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, United States. The resort was built by developer Steve Wynn and is currently owned and operated by MGM Resorts International. The original marquee sign in front of the Mirage is the largest free standing marquee in the world. The resort is connected by a free tram to the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino neighboring the hotel’s property. The Mirage was built on a portion of the site formerly occupied by the Castaways, which closed in 1987 to make room for the new resort. The Mirage was built by developer Steve Wynn and designed by architect Joel Bergman[citation needed] and interior designer Roger Thomas. Landscape architect Don Brinkerhoff worked on an artificial volcano located in front of the resort. The Mirage was proposed with an initial cost of $565 million. Financier Michael Milken helped finance the project by selling $525 million worth of mortgage bonds. The Mirage was the first resort that was built with the money of Wall Street through the use of junk bonds.[citation needed] The project went over budget, and was the most expensive hotel-casino in history, with a construction cost of $630 million. The hotel's distinctive gold windows get their color from actual gold dust used in the tinting process.

Coconut Spice - A coconut spice mojito rainy day!

So last week I just celebrated my birthday with family and friends. It was an unusually rainy and humid July day in Las Vegas. My trees and plants were all soaked and the air smelled like the Mandalay Bay Hotel or the Mirage Hotel the smell of Coconut.  Every year my husband always selects a featured drink to serve my party. Coincidentally, this year's drink was the coconut mojito. I thought it was perfect for a hot and humid summer day in Vegas. The smell of mint, lime, and coconut spice in a glass!

The freshness of the mint grown in our backyard (I know, off the grid), the coconut rum, and the fresh limes made for a deliciously fragrant drink that we indulged in late into the night. As we and our guests sat out in the backyard, sipping on our mojitos and enjoying the rain, we reminisced over vacations in the tropics, in the Caribbean’s and other beautiful islands around the world, it was a great way to celebrate.
